Olive oil is a staple in almost every kitchen—but where do the olives actually come from, and how much do the people who harvest them earn? At the Bicycle Kitchen, we’ll sample a range of olive oils while tracing the olive’s journey from the Mediterranean and beyond to our tables.
Together, we’ll explore the water consumption, land rights, and working conditions in olive-growing regions across the Global South, and discuss how our everyday purchasing decisions are connected to these issues. An evening for everyone who loves good food and wants to take a closer look at where it comes from.
