PORTRAIT OF A HOLM FISHERMAN
Super-8-Film
This 60-minute documentary by Kay Gerdes and Jess Hansen, released in 2006, follows Holm fisherman Adelei Nanz through the course of an entire year—from the lean winter months of bream fishing, through the spring herring season, to eel fishing in the autumn.
More than a film about fishing, it paints a vivid portrait of the historic Holm fishing settlement on the edge of Schleswig’s old town, a unique community that has preserved many of its centuries-old traditions to this day.
