Oliver Lück
A message in a bottle.
It all started with Biruta Kerve. Author Oliver Lück had met her on an extended journey across Europe. In front of her house, situated on Latvia’s Baltic coastline, she had found countless bottle post over the years, and Lück decided to locate the originators. He made phone calls, sent postcards and hundreds of e-mails, and kept returning to the Baltic Sea countries to meet the senders. In times of Facebook and Twitter, a message in a bottle seems like a relic from ancient times but, in fact, the reverse is true: it is timeless and knows no boundaries. Just like a time capsule, it guards wishes, hopes, and dreams. Oliver Lück will read from his book “Flaschenpostgeschichten”, show photographs, and talk about encounters in Russia, Denmark, Latvia, and Sweden. He might even bring his bottle message automat.
