Lisa Wanloo (SWE)
They sing about what it's like to live in a time where nothing makes sense anymore. Genre-wise, Shishi takes sugar, spice, and everything nice from surf rock and mixes it with a chemical formula distilled from the raw sounds of the best riot girl and punk bands.
Wanloo creates a big, dark scenery in her songs, coupled with something fragile that pokes at the inside in a beautiful way. Influenced by the darker varieties of the Americana and singer-songwriter traditions, as well as her lifelong love of grunge music, Wanloo writes her music from the bottom of her heart. It's reminiscent of Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten in both approach and execution.
