ENSEMBLE POLÝNUSHKA
"Polýnushka", founded in July 2004 in Berlin, is the first vocal ensemble for authentic Russian folklore in Germany. We are singers from different countries (Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland, Moldova and Lithuania) and each of us has been engaged in the Eastern European music tradition for years.
We founded the ensemble with the intention to counteract the disappearance of the unique Russian vocal tradition. That is why we try to keep this musical culture alive, as far as it is possible for us in the urban context, and to present it to the wider public, to share the beauty and depth of village singing with others.
