TAUTUMEITAS (LV)
Ethno-Pop from Latvia
TAUTUMEITAS is an ethno-pop band from Latvia that adapts melodies and lyrics from Latvian folk songs, creates powerful harmonies and fuses them with modern beats and production to spread magic all over the world. The six Latvian women are also decidedly creative when it comes to outfits - their costumes and crowns show how close tradition and future style really are, at least in Latvia. Their visual aesthetic is cosmic as well as powerful and feminine.
Tautumeitas' self-titled debut album, released in 2018, won the Latvian Music Recording Award "Zelta Mikrofons" in the category "Folk/World Music Album of the Year 2018." The album "Songs from Auleja" even won the Folk/World award "Music Album of the Year 2020". In February 2022, the song "Tur, kur Dieva kamanas slīd", created in collaboration with the band "Brainstorm", won the award "The Most Valuable Song of 2021" at the music contest "Musical Bank" of Latvian Radio 2. The group is a four-time winner of the annual Latvian cultural award "Boņuks". Their latest album "Skrejceļš" was released in spring 2022 and was celebrated with the band's biggest show in Latvia so far. The band is currently in the second stage of a 13-day "Skrejceļš" tour of Latvia.
