Jaakko Laitinen Tango

Jaakko Laitinen and Marko Roininen, the masterminds behind the nine-year-old Finnish Lapland-Balkan world music sensation Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha, will perform at the festival with their brand new project Jaakko Laitinen Tango. Väärä Raha's music owes much to both the Balkan and Finnish popular music - especially Finnish tango. This is Laitinen's and Roininen's tribute to their roots and a special form of Finnish tango. The dynamic duo's voice and accordion will be joined by top class Finnish musicians: guitarist Janne Halonen and multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala. Their special programme consists of their own tangos and the band's personal favorites of Finnish tango: classic tango compositions by Toivo Kärki and Unto Mononen, and international tunes from the repertoire of tango king Olavi Virta.
