THE WHITE BUSES 1945
A movie by Tillmann Bünz
The rescuers arrived in the middle of the last months of the war. They drove in 75 unarmored white-painted buses from Malmö across destroyed Germany, easy prey for fighter planes. Their mission: to liberate Scandinavian prisoners from German camps. Count Bernadotte, a nephew of the Swedish king and a high official of the Red Cross, had organized the operation.
