ANDREA PALUCH
We are delighted that Flensburg-based author ANDREA PALUCH will be returning to NORDEN after her inspiring appearance in 2024. She will be reading from her new book ‘Alles für einen. Ruth Berlau’ (Everything for One: Ruth Berlau) – a literary search for clues to the eventful life of actress, director and writer Ruth Berlau – a woman who went down in history as a pioneer of solo cycling trips from Copenhagen to Paris, yet remained best known as Bertolt Brecht's lover and collaborator.
With her typically intelligent and entertaining narrative style, Paluch unravels the myth of Berlau: she reveals a spirited, contradictory personality who was torn between artistic freedom, psychological abysses and her toxic relationship with Brecht. The novel begins in the Brecht House in Denmark, which Paluch herself experienced as a literary residence, and spans the arc from Berlau's early spirit of adventure to her tragic failure in love.
‘Everything for One: Ruth Berlau’ is more than a biography – it is a tribute to a woman who lived her life between self-determination and dependence. Andrea Paluch's reading promises a captivating encounter with one of the most fascinating figures in literary history.
