A festival for everyone

The NORDEN Festival should be accessible to everyone and so our team is gradually working on implementing barrier-free measures on the Königswiesen. We want everyone to feel equally welcome and to have the opportunity for equal, independent access.
Our team is always ready and can provide support if necessary. If you have any specific questions, Philine, the representative for accessibility and inclusion, will be happy to help. We can be reached by phone and WhatsApp on the following number throughout the festival.

Accessibility on the festival grounds

Barrier-free access to the festival grounds
The entire festival grounds are almost completely barrier-free and all venues are accessible for people in wheelchairs. Only the garden stage is on a slope and can only be seen from the side.
If the lawn is too soft to drive on in a wheelchair due to heavy rainfall, we will try to lay down floor tiles as quickly as possible and give you access to the culture tent, atrium and arena in the park.
Barrier-free toilet
There is a barrier-free toilet on the festival grounds. This is located in the Luisenbad (log cabin between the beach and Königswiese).
Tickets & accompanying person
People with disabilities (from GdB 50) can buy a reduced ticket. With appropriate proof, an accompanying person receives free entry to the festival grounds. In both cases, appropriate proof must be presented at the cash desk.

Offers for hearing-impaired and deaf people

Mobile induction loop
We have installed a mobile induction loop in the culture tent and in the cinema. You can borrow a receiver from the information stand so that you can better follow the readings and other events. Our team will be happy to help you with the mobile induction loops and answer any questions you may have.
German Sign Language
We are currently planning for 2025 and will soon show you which events we can have accompanied in German Sign Language.
If you are particularly interested in an event, please write a message to Philine on +49 (0)176 800249413 or to pb@hejnorden.com. We will then try to book a sign language interpreter for this particular event.
Subtitles
Some short films in the cinema tent have subtitles. Unfortunately, we can only tell you exactly which films have subtitles shortly beforehand, once we have the films.

Attention! We are not yet barrier-free here:

Stroboscopic lighting effects
Stroboscopic lighting effects are used in particular on the Schleibühne and the garden stage. There are no flickering lighting effects at any other venues.
If you are sensitive to stroboscopic lighting effects, you are welcome to contact us in advance and ask to be on the safe side.
Offers for people with visual impairments
There are currently no guidance systems for people with visual impairments on the festival grounds. The information, the program overview and the catering options are not available in Braille. For the NORDEN Festival 2024, we are already working in the background on implementing various offers for people with visual impairments. If you have any specific ideas, requests or suggestions, please contact Philine at pb@hejnorden.com or by phone at +49 (0)176 800249413
Have we forgotten something? Do you notice any other barriers?
Please let us know and point out any barriers! We rely on your feedback and would be very grateful if we could make the NORDEN Festival barrier-free with your support.
