The NODREN is green

From the very beginning, NORDEN has been a sustainably designed festival with a constant focus on resource conservation and responsibility. We make sustainability a central theme in planning and implementation, because an environmentally friendly orientation of the festival is important to us in order to keep the impact on people and the environment as low as possible. Together with you, we will show that a sustainable festival is fun and forward-looking!

NORDEN is the most sustainable festival in Germany

Nominated and awarded
The HELGA! Festival Award is being presented for the tenth time and NORDEN - The Nordic Arts Festival is really cleaning up: The GREENEST MEADOW can now be found at NORDEN in Schleswig.
An independent jury of experts selected the three best festivals from Germany in different categories from numerous submissions. The best festivals of the year will then be honored as part of the Reeperbahn Festival Hamburg. At the awards ceremony on September 21, the NORDEN Festival received first prize in the Greenest Meadow category and is now officially considered the most sustainable festival in Germany!
But that's not all! On September 8, 2023 at the NORDEN Festival, we were awarded the "PROJECT SUSTAINABILITY" prize, endowed with 1,000 EURO, by the Schleswig-Holstein Minister of Economic Affairs, Claus Ruhe Madsen. This prize was originally awarded during the celebrations for German Unity Day in Hamburg on October 2nd, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. on the NDR main stage on Jungfernstieg. In her laudation, Dörte Busse-Meyn (RENN.nord) addressed touching words to the NORDEN team:
"You provide inspiration: The supporting program includes numerous actors who contribute to sustainable development with forward-looking ideas. You live the message that a festival can not only be entertainment, but also a platform for inspiring positive changes in our society.
This commitment does not go unnoticed and so I am delighted to be able to honor the NORDEN Festival today as an outstanding sustainability project in the "N - Now and on Site" category of Project Sustainability. The NORDEN Festival has become a role model for sustainable event management and shines as a lighthouse project between the seas. Dear Manfred Pakusius, dear Marno Happ, dear team - congratulations!"
