Cancellation of NORDEN - The Nordic Arts Festival 2020

Dear friends of the NORDEN Festival,

based on the decision of the federal government and the federal states of 15.04.2020, major events will be prohibited in Germany until 31.08.2020. The opening of NORDEN - The Nordic Arts Festival 2020 falls on August 27th, which means that the first festival weekend is within the period of the announced ban on major events. Our focus in the previous days and weeks has been to find a practicable alternative so that the festival can take place within a changed framework that guarantees the health of all as well as economic efficiency.

After intensive discussions with the city and the state and after weighing up the risks, we unfortunately have to inform you that we are not able to hold NORDEN - The Nordic Arts Festival 2020 under the current circumstances: With a heavy heart we have to cancel the festival for this year and postpone it to 26.08 to 12.09.2021.

We are aware of our responsibility towards our guests, partners, artists, service providers, gastronomes and employees. On the one hand, the current situation poses health risksthat will probably still be relevant in late summer. On the other hand, we would like to provide the necessary clarity and planning securitythat is needed in the current situation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to all concerned. Our planning is also made considerably more difficult by the given uncertainties, which could lead to considerable financial damage to the NORDEN Festivaland thus endanger the future of the festival if we do not react now.

The festival thrives on the special atmosphere created by the community within the three-week festival period. We see ourselves as a temporary place of exchange & interaction, the core of which we see additionally threatened by the current situation this year, if it is held under possible security conditions.

Only until 31.12.2020: Festival passes for all twelve event days available
These months without live events, without concerts and readings are annoying, but there is hope. The aid of the state, a vaccine that will soon be available and the event experience from the summer of 2020 ... - all this fuels our optimism and helps us to implement the festival responsibly and, if necessary, "pandemic friendly".
